Dave Gunning in Concert in Sidney
Once again, lovers of Canadian roots music have the opportunity to hear one of our country’s great performers. East Coast music legend, Dave Gunning makes a rare visit to BC and performs in Sidney on Saturday, June 2nd.
This concert is sponsored by Deep Cove Folk Club which has been bringing high quality folk music to the Peninsula for 26 years. Along the way, the club has hosted Canadian singer/songwriters of every description from every part of Canada. Artists like Roy Forbes, Shari Ulrich, Tom Taylor, Bill Henderson, Barnie Bentall, Bob Bossin and Steel Band, Connie Kaldor, Lennie Gallant, Cindy Church and Buffy St. Marie have entertained Sidney audiences thanks to Deep Cove Folk’s commitment to bringing the best to the Peninsula.
On the regular club night, May 11th, East Coast personality, Laura Smith will feature. Laura has been extremely popular for many years in Atlantic Canada and a large audience is expected for this show. Doors open at 7:30 pm but only 100 can jam into St John’s United Church so be sure to come early for what will be a sell-out performance.

After eleven albums stretching two decades, Dave Gunning has established himself as one of Canada’s premier singer/song writers. Winner of eight East Coast Music Awards, two Canadian Folk Music Awards, plus a 2012 Juno Award nomination, Dave is among the very best.
His concert will feature his most recent album, “Lift” which Gunning acknowledges has “ more personal and introspective songs than past recordings”. But, he admits, he loves songs which tells a story and pays homage to the great Stan Rogers for inspiring him to follow his dream to become an entertainer.
This is one concert lovers of Canadian roots music will not want to miss!
